Cassidy Fellows-Sommers

Cassidy Fellows-Sommers is an Evansville native who has resided in Indianapolis since 2011. Cassidy started her drag career at Someplace Else in Evansville, IN in the fall of 2004. Originally a Thursday Comedy Night performer, Cassidy eventually became a member of the weekend casts of both Someplace Else Nightclub and The Brickhouse and a regular hostess of shows at both venues. As her performing career progressed, Cassidy began working at venues across the region throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. In 2010, Cassidy became the 31st Miss Gay Indiana and the only Evansville native or representative from Evansville to capture the title in the 41 years of its existence. In 2014, Cassidy was selected by the Indy Bag Ladies (the second oldest HIV fundraising organization in the country) to serve as Queen after launching “Cassidy’s Red Ribbon Comedy Tour”, a statewide annual fundraiser for Indiana AIDS Fund. Cassidy was invited in 2015 to perform in Manhattan for a variety of events that she continues to participate in to this day, visiting New York in January and July to delight audiences with both live singing and lip synched performances at theaters and clubs.

Cassidy’s efforts largely now focus on fundraising for HIV/AIDS and LGBTQA+ organizations. In cooperation with the Indy Bag Ladies and due largely to the success of Cassidy’s Red Ribbon Comedy Tour, Cassidy has contributed to raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Indiana-based charities. A long-time advocate for HIV services, Cassidy has participated in AIDS Walks, Galas and Events for over 15 years volunteering both time and talent in support of ending AIDS within our generation. A major proponent of Drag Queen Story Hour, Cassidy was thrilled to see Evansville successfully held their first event and looks forward to seeing more positive changes for the community in the future.

Della Shug

My passion for advocacy and activism began at home, my mother Christine was a very charitable person

despite the fact that she was a single mother of three. I can recall going to volunteer with ARG,  and spending

hours licking envelopes. Times spent volunteering at local shelters along in addition to BHIVs and the

annual Tristate AIDS walk. I learned that there are others less fortunate that need our help.

To keep an itemized list of charity is not in my character as the work was done to improve the world

around me not to impress others. In 2015 I found Midwest Activism & Advocacy to not only aid in times

of natural disaster but to take a stand for social justice for the disenfranchised. I am a two term board

member ofVanderburgh County Advisory Board on Disability Services, providing a variety of services

and resources for the local disabled community. I can only guess the number of protest's I have hosted,

attended or cohosted.

Jeremy Turner and Kelley Course are amazing advocates for the community, it humbles me that your

committee considers me of the same caliber.
